Nov 1 – 11, 2014 — 11 Days Kunming • Dali • Lijiang • Shanghai
Depart San Francisco on China Eastern to Kunming via Shanghai.
Day 2 Nov 2 (Mon) Shanghai – Kunming
Upon arrival in Kunming at 0035am on Day 3, you will be greeted and escorted to your hotel.
Day 3 Nov 3 (Tue) Kunming (B)
Spend the day at leisure to explore this beautiful City of Eternal Spring on your own or consider taking one of our full day optional tours with lunch.

Day 4 Nov 4 (Wed) Kunming (B, L)
Take an excursion to the Stone Forest, 32 acres of karst limestone formations that eroded into cliffs and peaks, caves and pavilions, all connected by a labyrinth of trails. It is home to the Sani people, a branch of the Yi minority. Later drive back to Kunming to visit the Yunnan Provincial Museum, a monumental Russian-style building, housing a collection of textiles, costumes, handicrafts and artifacts of Yunnan and its many ethnic minority groups.
Day 5 Nov 5 (Thu) Kunming – Dali (B, L)
Transfer to Dali by coach this morning. Upon arrival in Dali, you are free at leisure in the afternoon. You may spend some time strolling down the stone streets of Dali Old town or take one of our half day optional tours.

• Optional Tour III – Bicycle Tours Along the Shore of Erhai Lake, Village of Caicun, South and North Xiao Yi village,
Long Kan Pier, Old Town of Dali
Day 6 Nov 6 (Fri) Dali – Lijiang (B, L)
After breakfast, proceed to Xizhou Village. Visit the Family Yang’s courtyards, a traditional Bai house. There you will enjoy the traditional three-course tea ceremony accompanied by folk songs
with a dance performance of the Bai people used to greet guests. Continue to Shacun village, where you may take a small boat with local Bai fishermen and watch cormorant fishing on Erhai Lake. In the afternoon, you will be transferred to Lijiang, home to the Naxi people, Lijiang is a small mountain town of canals and wood houses and has been recently been listed as a UNESCO world monument city.
Day 7 Nov 7 (Sat) Lijiang (B, L)
In the morning, we will visit the old town market. The Old Town of Lijiang enjoys a long history of over 800 years. The wooden structures, mountains, small rivers and lanes integrate harmoniously in this mountain town. Then, drive out to visit the Jade Peak Monastery; the centerpiece is a 500-year-old camellia tree that boasts ten thousand blossoms from December until March of the following year. Continue to the Naxi minority villages of Baisha and Shuhe, small villages to view the local culture. You will also visit the Black Dragon Pond with the Wufeng Temple and the Dongba Cultural Museum. The Dongba language in many ways resembles ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics.
Day 8 Nov 8 (Sun) Lijiang (B)
Spend your whole day at leisure to explore Lijiang on your own. Perhaps takes a full day optional tour with lunch to visit one of the amazing attractions of Lijiang.

Day 9 Nov 9 (Mon) Lijiang – Shanghai (B, L) (Option-Yangtze Cruise)
After breakfast, fly to Shanghai – the “Paris of the Orient”. Upon arrival, your sightseeing features the bustling shopping street, Nanjing Road, and the Bund, the famous promenade along the Huangpu River.
Day 10 Nov 10 (Tue) Shanghai (B, L)
Start your morning with a visit to the famous Shanghai Museum, China’s most complete museum, showcasing the country’s history and culture. In the afternoon, pay a visit to Yu Garden, famous for its rock gardens, pavilions, halls and ponds, and the Old Shanghai Bazaar, with shops filled with all manner of interesting curios.
Day 11 Nov 11 (Wed) Shanghai – San Francisco (B)
Farewell to Shanghai. Transfer to the airport for your flight back to San Francisco.
