Reservation Form

Our solar eclipse cruise will set sail from the 1st till the 17th of March, 2016 launching from Singapore  on Holland America’s ms Voldendam solar eclipse cruise.  We will sail around some of the best islands that Indonesia has to offer.

Indonesia is an archipelago located in South East Asia famous for its history, landscape and diverse variety of cultures and cuisines. Aboard the ms Voldendam you will have the pleasure to experience the warmth and hospitality that the cultures of Java, Sulawesi, Lombok and Bali have to offer.

While dropping anchor in Java you will be able to discover towns such as Semarang, Probolinggo and Jakarta. Semarang is the place for the history enthusiasts as you will have the pleasure to see architecture left over from the Dutch colonialists or take a day trip to see the famous Hindu temple of Borobudur. From the harbour at Probolinggo, there will be the chance to travel by car to witness the awe of Mt Bromo. Known for its desolate beauty and surrounded by a sea of volcanic sand you can either hike around the mountain or observe it all by horseback. In Jakarta you will be able to walk the city streets and soak up the excitement that the capital has to offer.

Further, we will navigate through the Makassar Strait.  Later that night we will set sail again where you will get to witness the highlight of our tour, the Solar Eclipse of March 9, 2016. This unique opportunity of our Solar Eclipse Cruise enables us to view the eclipse in the middle of the seas untarnished skies.  (Anderson weather report)

Aboard the Solar Eclipse Cruise, you will have the opportunity to mingle with solar eclipse travelers from all over the globe. Formal and informal programs will be available. Eclipse Shades will be supplied to our guests.

Upon arriving in Lombok you may visit an “off the beaten path” destinations, Lembar is located on the island of Lombok, just east of Bali. With its slow pace, beautiful beaches, enchanting waterfalls, and Mount Rinjani, Indonesia’s second highest volcano, Lombok offers quite days amidst spectacular beauty.

In Komodo we will take small boats to take a day trip to the island of Komodo, famous for its local occupants, the Komodo dragon. In 1980 the island was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site and we will have the opportunity to discover the island by guided tour. Here we will witness the worlds’ largest living lizards in their natural environment and be granted the chance to snorkel and discover over a 1000 different species of marine life, in the Komodo Marine Park.

After reaching the harbor of Benoa, Bali you will have the day to see what the Island of the Gods has to offer. Discover the famous surf beaches of Uluwatu, the spectacular views from cliff side vantage points and a myriad of temples and cultural sights galore. If this isn’t your thing, you will have the opportunity to take a 1 hour car ride to Kuta to hit up the shops and sample a beer or two beach side.

It is in Singapore where our Solar Eclipse Cruise journey will come to an end. As a final treat we will tour the sights and sounds of this country in a group or given the opportunity to go at your own pace.

  2. Hi Dan.

I’m sorry that I did not get a chance to write sooner.
Still trying to catch up from the trip.

    All went well.
The group was an interesting bunch and a good time was had by all.
Singapore is an exciting place, but way too hot and muggy to properly enjoy.
We took advantage of several excursions and they all paid off well.

    The eclipse was perfect.
Sailed to a clear spot and got a nice place on deck to watch the whole thing.

The Sky & Telescope crowd had many events — all private.
Several special guests — Bob Naeye, Dr. Krupp, and Fred Espanack.
We didn’t even hear about what they were doing.

Accommodations prety good, but not as nice as the Dawn Princess.
    Food on ship good.
Food on land a bit spotty but recognizable.

I want to thank you for arranging the drink packages for me and Cathy.
They worked out well for both of us.
With the high temperatures, we drank a lot of water.

    That’s all for now.
I have not yet organized my photos, but I’m working on it.
It took me 2 days to adjust to solid and firm ground and over a week to readjust to the time zones.
Those flights are so long and the planes more uncomfortable than ever.

    Once again, thanks for everything.
    Another successful trip!

    Bob
