Friday Aug. 18th – Arrive Denver – Cheyenne
The “Rockies” welcome you today as you arrive at the Denver Airport by 2:00 pm and meet your tour director. (*Please arrive at the Denver Airport before 2:00 pm) Depart the airport and travel north to Wyoming’s Capital, Cheyenne. Enjoy touring of the Cheyenne Depot Museum for a look into the history of the area and its significance in settling the west. One of the most significant passenger depots in the American West and acclaimed one of the most architecturally distinguished buildings among Henry Van Brunt’s commissions, the Cheyenne Union Pacific Depot was recognized as a National Historic Landmark in 2006. Check into your hotel and join the group for a welcome dinner.

Saturday Aug. 19th– Custer – Black Hills
Depart Cheyenne and travel north through the plain of Wyoming and enter South Dakota with a rest stop along the way. Arrive Custer State Park and the historic State Game Lodge with free time for lunch on your own. Then get up close and personal with the residents of this park as you head out on a Wildlife Jeep Safari to view the buffalo herds and much more. In the late afternoon, make your way to Crazy Horse Monument for sightseeing of the yet unfinished mountain carving and insight into the Lakota culture. Return to Custer for overnight.

Sunday Aug. 20th– Mt. Rushmore – Buffalo
Start your day with a beautiful drive to Mt. Rushmore National Memorial for a morning view of this magnificent monument. Then continue through the Black Hills to Deadwood for sightseeing of this rough and tumble western town famous for outlaws, gunslingers and lawmen alike. After some free time to explore Deadwood and have lunch on own, continue your travels to the nation’s very first National Monument, Devil’s Tower. Here you will have a chance to learn a little more of the history, geology, and folklore surrounding this spot that was so sacred to the Indians. This afternoon, the vast prairie lands of Wyoming open before you as you make your way to Buffalo for overnight. Buffalo is one of those wonderful small towns that seem to define rural America.

Monday Aug. 21st – 2017 Total Solar Eclipse Tour Highlight – Cody (8/21 Mon)
This is the day – the Total Solar Eclipse! Depart Buffalo this morning and travel to Casper. A total eclipse of the Sun has to be the most spectacular and awe-inspiring event in the natural world. The light becomes ghostly and strange and an eerie darkness engulfs you. Experience it all in Casper which is dead center along the path of totality. After the eclipse, continue your journey west as you travel to Cody with a rest stop along the way. Cody is home to the Buffalo Bill Center of the West, and this afternoon you will have time to browse through its amazing displays of old west memorabilia. Included in the collection is the Whitney Art Gallery, the Plains Indian Museum, Winchester Gun exhibit, a natural history museum and The William Fredric Cody Wing. See many of the personal belongings of the famous buffalo hunter. This evening join the group for a Chuckwagon Dinner & Live Music Show, then it’s off to the Cody Nite Rodeo for some good family entertainment, and the opportunity to get a firsthand look at the lifestyle of Old West Cowboys and Cowgirls.

Tuesday Aug. 22nd – Yellowstone (8/22 Tue)
Depart Cody this morning and enter the world’s first national park, Yellowstone National Park. Begin your Yellowstone experience by skirting crystal clear Yellowstone Lake, then follow the Yellowstone River through Hayden Valley, home of large herds of North American Bison (Buffalo). Arrive Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone to see the magnificent 309 foot Lower Falls. Next visit colorful Fountain Paint Pots, with one of the most complete collections of thermal features in the park, before arriving at Yellowstone’s most famous landmark, Old Faithful. There will be plenty of time to enjoy the geyser’s regular display, explore the area and have dinner on own. After an amazing day in Yellowstone, depart through the south gate and travel to the Hatchet Resort for a two night stay. The Hatchet Resort is a historic gem nestled in Moran, WY. Fully renovated in the spring of 2014, the Hatchet offers a glimpse of the life of early settlers to Jackson Hole. Built in 1954 to support motorists and tourism new to our region, the Hatchet is honored to be listed with the Teton County Historical Preservation Board. Uniquely situated at the gateway to both Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Park, the Hatchet combines western charm with an authentic Jackson Hole experience. Dinner is on your own this evening.

Wed. Aug 23rd – Grand Teton – Jackson (8/23 Wed)
This morning, enter Grand Teton National Park, a place of unsurpassed scenic beauty. In the afternoon, return through the south gate and enjoy some sightseeing in Grand Teton National Park. Travel through the Tetons and see America’s youngest and most rugged mountains piercing the clouds in majestic splendor. Next visit the fun western town of Jackson with free time to explore and have lunch on your own. This old cowboy town is now home to hundreds of art galleries, shops, attractions and restaurants but still maintains an old west charm. Later in the afternoon, return northward with additional sightseeing of Grand Teton National Park with picture stops at various scenic view points along the way including Jenny Lake which offers unique photo taking opportunities. Return to your hotel with the evening free for dinner on own.

Thur. Aug. 24th– Snake River – Salt Lake City (8/24 Thu)
Start the day early as you return to Grand Teton National Park and enjoy a Scenic Float Trip on the Snake River. With this giant mountain range as a backdrop, you will see the wildlife, the flora, and the sheer magnitude of nature. Your river guide will point out wildlife, explain the geology of the area and tell stories about local history and folklore. It will be a morning to remember. Then depart Jackson and travel through western Wyoming surrounded by silver streams, soaring peaks, and lush meadows. Drive through the rugged Snake River Canyon, stopping in pastoral Starr Valley. Continue south with a rest stop along the way before arriving in Salt Lake City for a brief driving tour. After checking into your hotel, join the group for a farewell dinner at a local restaurant.
