Tour of Siena Tuscany Italy
Our Tour of Siena began with a long walk. It seemed our bus was far away. What the purple bird has to with anything except the Vikings, I don’t know. It brought a smile to Shirley’s face, not to be outdone by the Cardinal bird. That one laid an egg earlier this week.
We see the magnificent tower and dome as we enter the old city. We had a local guide, Veronica who gave us headsets so we could hear her running commentary. And did it run. She took us to the 650 pm meeting point on the main square. We thought we had an hour plus of free time. No, she was one of these guides who likes to talk.
So, after a few narrow streets and some shops we visit a local church. I thought the mini-garbage truck was more interesting. Then behind the big square, and it is big up some hills to the cathedral. It was big an ornate, however, I do not know how to adjust my camera to photograph stained glass windows.
Back to the square and the nine buildings facing it. They were each owned by different families years ago whom ruled Siena. There was not a cobblestone or paver out of place. We ended the day with Italian appetizers of 4 meats and pizza. Pictured with us are two gals from Brazil who stayed on the tour for dinner. One was a pharmacist and the other a civil engineer. We dined alfresco with electric heaters overhead. There were several restaurants along the square. On each alley and path out of the square were many shops with all sorts off goods, not just tourist stuff. There were leather shops, suits, ties, ladies night garments, different foods and so on. The tour of Siena with mytours.it was a great value. We saw Pisa, San Griminagio, and Siena all in a day with two meals included.
