Pisa Italy Tour
Pisa Italy. The tower that leans to the right. Gotta love it. We arrived at the bus station to meet our guide for the day, Francesca with My Tours. It was easy to remember because Francesca Ballesteri was just in Phoenix.
I wondered why we signed up for a tour that began at 0700 hours. We were in Pisa before the crowds, before the vendors opened their stalls. The most surprising thing was how white the marble was. I just don’t recall photos or television shots with this white marble. Especially when contrasted to the dirty marble in Rome.
The grass was green at this late fall date. We neglected to get a free ticket to go into the cathedral. Tickets are free but they have a time attached to them. We could have climbed the tower, but it would have taken all the time allotted to stay in Pisa with My Tours.
Many were talking photos of themselves holding up the Tower of Pisa. The ever present selfie stick aiding many of the tourists with their photography.
Francesca gave us a guided tour in Pisa through Leaning Tower Square: described the Cathedral with its Moorish and Arabic influences for us. Francesca pointed out many treasures of one of the most famous square in the world revealing you the secrets of a leaning tower. She also made sure we would have heat in the back of the bus on the next leg of our tour of Tuscany.
