Tropical Sails Corp has been doing solar eclipse adventures since Baja in 1991. We took 35 motor-homes and campers to the beach and camped on the centerline. We arranged all details for this eclipse using Dan Oppliger’s resources acquired while working for a specialty tour operator. We did this in spite of misinformation published by what are our competitors today. We knew then how to get water and ice delivered to the beach in July.
In the early nineties we arranged solar eclipse trips for a few cients who asked for them. In 1994 we sold over 100,000 pair of Eclipse Shades® for Rainbow Symphony. We were featured in the The El Paso Herald Post and on the local TV. In 1998 we chartered four ships from Windjammer Barefoot Cruises, Ltd and the Star Clipper. We filled them all.
We continued to represent Windjammer until they went out of business. In the meanwhile we took two groups to Turkey for Eclipses, one for the Venus Transit, went to China twice. Our Turkey and China suppliers have been so wondeful to us, we continue to promote their tours.
We have been all over the globe doing solar eclipse trips and other business with suppliers whom we have maintained relationships.
